The lovely Tanque Verde Guest Ranch...yes we've styled quite a few events at this venue and we think it's because their clients love our design aesthetic. Clean, natural, modern yet classic, eco-friendly floral design.
In light of the current Arizona Senate bill allowing businesses to discriminate against our LGBTQI brothers and sisters, we felt compelled to share one of our recent same-sex weddings. We are a downtown Tucson business that fully supports and is willing to serve our community regardless of race, religion, sexual orientation, gender and disability.
This story is so close to home because it starts with one of our own, Amelia, Lead Designer and Manager of Atelier de LaFleur who recently married her best friend and partner in life Callie. These two beautiful women met in the bay area 9 years ago and this summer they decided to tie the knot.
It was very important to both of them to create a ceremony that portrayed their spiritual beliefs. They specifically wanted to create an experience where everyone would feel included and the importance of the day would fill their guests hearts with unconditional love.
Guests were seated in a spiral and the wedding rings were blessed by passing them around to family and friends. They burned sage, called in the four directions of the Cherokee medicine wheel, the Seven Jewish Blessings were revised to represent their same-sex marriage and they displayed a ancestor altar.
Every detail of the ceremony and reception was styled by Amelia. Hand-crafted banners, table numbers and party favors were made by family and friends and decor props were provided by LaFleur.
Amelia designed a bouquet that included hand picked cotton from a field in Alabama, dahlias, poppy pods, delphiniums and lace leaf dusty miller.
Scout (American Bulldog), Luna (Olde English Bulldog), and Shelby (Olde French Bulldog) participated in the ceremony as ring bearers and additional entertainment throughout the evening.
LaFleur feels so honored to feature Amelia and Callie's wedding and we strongly believe their message of love and acceptance is universal. We will continue to support same sex weddings, serving the entire Tucson community.

WOW...I had no idea...2013 would exceed my expectations in every way! I am so thankful for my beautifully talented and extremely dedicated team. There's a standing joke that I require four things to get an internship or position with our firm ...
- Comfortable cowboy boots
- A little black dress
- Red lipstick
- The ability to lift 60 lb. in a dress, boots with red lipstick on and not bitch about it.
I hired all of my designers serendipitously. They are the happy accidents that every employer wishes for. I feel so blessed to design along side them every week. Thank you- Amelia, Brittany, Megan, Lizzy, Nicole and Claire

We recently styled the floral arrangements for Loren Galesi and Nick Joyce's wedding at Tohono Chul Park in Tucson. This gorgeous spring wedding was relaxed yet chic. It celebrated the new beginning of Nick and Loren's life amidst the bloom of spring in Tohono Chul's first wedding and reception held exclusively in the park.
LaFleur Plantscapes + Fresh Flora used seasonal wildflowers, white anemones, ranunculus, succulents, and lots of texture to create romantic, garden-themed arrangements. Crystal baubles, bengaline linens and delicate succulents planted in mercury glass added extra charm to centerpieces and ceremony décor.
From start to finish every single detail of this garden soiree was perfectly captured by Neil Kreuser Photography and highlighted this couples love of nature, family and each other.
This month's featured plant gives a nod to the month of love with special meaning that celebrates passion and romance. The Lisianthus flower is an herbaceous annual that loves the warm sunny regions of the southwestern United States, Mexico, and northern regions of South America. This flower resembles a peony or rose and ranges in color from deep purple to pale pink to pure white. For hundreds of years, this flower was given as a gift between lovers to show a deep admiration and physical desire. With such an intense message attached, it's no wonder that it is a favorite flower of those with the sign Sagittarius - especially those with intense, outgoing personalities. Lisianthus make a great addition to bouquets for late spring and early summer weddings. Their leaves have a velvety, succulent-like look; and the petals of the flower are delicate and open like a full mouth waiting to be kissed. Because of the wide range of colors and extreme heat tolerance, Lisianthus can easily be incorporated into any design for a unique touch that communicates so much more than meets the eye!

It is my pleasure to make your floral arrangements as beautiful as the bride they celebrate. I look forward to working with you!
I recently ran across an article that talked about a popular Valentine's Day tradition from eighteenth centuryEngland. Single young women would put bay leaves under their pillows at night, believing they would dream of their true love. This is just the kind of folklore I love. It also inspired me to think of another great way to express love with plants and flora this Valentine's Day. Combing things like bay leaves (laurel) or rosemary (traditional English symbol of fidelity) with traditional Valentine's Day flowers like roses brings a twist of tradition and fun superstition to the holiday. I personally prefer creating arrangements with flowers, plants, and herbs that are full of meaning. I like to attach a card to the arrangement explaining what each plant is and what it represents. It gives so much meaning to the gift. Tell your sweetheart she is the woman of your dreams with a bouquet of bay leaves and roses. Promise your unswerving devotion with a bunch of fresh rosemary. An arrangement of hyacinth tells him you will love him for as long as time endures. How beautiful that we can express the most beautiful of emotions with some of the most beautiful creations in nature.
La Fleur Plantscapes + Fresh Flora will create a memorable, meaningful Valentine's Day arrangement for your true love. Contact me today to order your custom designed arrangement in time for Valentine's Day.
I admit it! I am a hopeless romantic at heart. I believe in true love, love at first sight, and soul mates. I guess that's why I love Valentine's Day so much. Any time we can express to those we love how much we love them, well, I think that's worth celebrating. Even though I'm a romantic, I don't necessarily like to limit my Valentine's Day arrangements to the clichéd expressions we have of love. Don't get me wrong; I love roses and violets. I hope these flowers are given, grown, and cultivated forever. They are beautiful plants worth tending. I just think our expressions of love should be as unique as the people we are thinking of when we make them. Instead of a traditional bouquet of roses this year, tell the special guy or gal in your life how "hot" they are with bouquet of chilies. Let your partner know you value their commitment to a greener planet with a sustainable succulent arrangement that can be cultivated in an outdoor or indoor garden for years. Better yet, establish a container arrangement this year that you can add to for years to come, letting it grow along with your life together. And if all these suggestions don't quite inspire, I design a beautiful arrangement of roses that will express how lovely and beautiful you think your loved one is.

I think it would be fair to say that when February rolls around, pretty much everyone thinks of Valentine's Day. Love, hearts, candy, flowers...these are all the traditional images of how we say, "I love you," to those most special people in our lives. I encourage you to celebrate love in all the forms it takes in your life this year. Don't forget to tell your sweetheart how much he or she means to you. Better yet, show them how much you love them with a living arrangement from La Fleur Plantscapes + Fresh Flora. I can custom design arrangements for you to commemorate any special event. Do you remember what flowers were in your wife's wedding bouquet? I can create an arrangement using the same flowers and color palate. Does your mother have a favorite flower or plant? Let me know, and I can build a container garden for her that will last for years. Do you have a crush on someone special? How about surprising him at his office with a sustainable arrangement or succulent to add warmth, life, and a reminder of how much he's valued. La Fleur Plantscapes + Fresh Flora is committed to creating unique arrangement that will capture the magic of your feelings for that special person in your life.
